Our Mission
Our mission is to enable seniors and adults with disabilities to live safely and successfully in the community throughout their lives, regardless of health or wealth.
CityPlace will be a “pocket neighborhood” for senior citizens and adults with disabilities who wish to live on their own, but who also may need a little support. This community of 8 homes and 8 ADUs will be constructed on a half-acre property next to St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church. in downtown Wilmington. Each home will accommodate one to four tenants with individual bedrooms, and each will incorporate affordable rent, technology-based routine reminders, and emergency devices – with local responders – to enable moderate to low-income tenants to live with dignity and independence throughout their lives. Common areas within the CityPlace neighborhood and planned community activities will foster social interaction and help avoid isolation. This community will also be close to an active community center, restaurants, shops, and WAVE transit stops, allowing community members access to necessities and services.
